FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne hotel that’s been under construction for a while, and in the works since 2017, now might have to come down.

A stop-work order has been issued for the Sleep Inn/Mainstay Suites project at 5950 Cross Creek Boulevard, which is off Lima Road and just south of the Meijer and Home Depot shopping center.

The Journal Gazette reports that Allen County building inspectors found “substandard construction materials and methods” as well as workers who didn’t have the proper credentials.

There’s no word yet on the future of the $1.5-million project, but Building Commissioner John Caywood says some of the violations were so bad they would’ve been safety hazards for guests.

He also called it “the worst job I have seen in over 30 years.”

Unfortunately, none that we’ve been able to track down. The project remains idle.
