FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Another big concert announcement for Fort Wayne:

Bob Seger is the latest musical act to announce a stop at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

The announcement was made this morning on the Coliseum’s facebook page. Coliseum General Manager Randy Brown says it’s been a long time coming:

“Bob Seger played here last on April 14th, 1978. Forty years ago.”

Seger had pledged to never come back to Fort Wayne after some members of his entourage were arrested on drug and alcohol charges, as part of a crackdown police were performing at the time. It seems time has healed those wounds.

The concert, which is part of Seger’s farewell tour, is set for Tuesday, January 15th, 2019. Tickets go on sale to the general public on September 28th. Presales begin on September 25th.

  1. I was one of the fans that got caught up in the crack down. The people I went up with had beer in the vehicle and they were drinking it in the parking lot. No one new that the people parking cars were cops. They took the beer and our tickets and took us to a holding area in the coliseum. I was the only one in the group that didn’t drink the beer so they arrested everyone except me. They had me wait for a police car that could take me down to the Commissioners office to call my parents to come and get me. I was 17 at the time.
Once I got to the Commissioner’s office he asked why I was going home and the policeman said I had been in the wrong place at the wrong time and just needed to go home. So instead of seeing Bob Seger I watched TV with the Commissioner that night. He did ask why they hadn’t given my ticket back so I could go to the concert anyway and I said I sure wish they would have. Bob Seger has always been my favorite singer and hopefully I will be able to make this concert 40 years later!
