Bitter cold sets in after winter storm blows through

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The snow might be over for most northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio residents, but now a different problem settles in: below-zero temperatures.

A storm front that dropped several inches of snow on Fort Wayne and the surrounding area this morning also brought with it gusty winds of up to 35 miles per hour, which will remain through Monday. The National Weather Service says temperatures will drop to as low as -9 Sunday night and wind chills of -10 tonight.

A travel advisory was issued for most area counties, due to blowing snow obscuring roads and the harsh temperatures. Warming shelters and similar accommodations will be made available for those who need a place to stay during the cold conditions.
