FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo is mourning the loss of one of its beloved animals.

Notch the kangaroo passed away this week at the age of 27. The zoo says on its Facebook page that she died because of complications of old age. The zoo’s vet team had been treating her for the last few months.

It’s believed that Notch was the oldest kangaroo that was living at a United States zoo. Notch arrived at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo in 1989 and was beloved by keepers, volunteers and zoo goers.
