Editorial Page Editor at the Journal-Gazette, Karen Francisco joined Charly Butcher on “Fort Wayne’s Morning News” about the annexation opponents and they are apparently are forming a political action committee to elect like-minded candidates.  For Sunday, they have an editorial about the federal Child Nutrition Act reauthorization — the House version is authored by Indiana Congressman Todd Rokita.  If approved, it will mean that Fort Wayne Community Schools can no longer offer free meals at all of its elementary and middle schools. The end result is that lots of students from poor families will lose out on nutritious meals.  They also have a column by an IPFW faculty member, Abe Schwab, regarding the just-released report recommending changes that would dramatically affect the school’s College of Arts and Sciences. He defends the liberal arts and asks for community support in telling university officials that these programs must be preserved.
