Allen County GOP announces Caucus to choose Buskirk replacement

(Darrin Wright/1190 WOWO 107.5 FM)

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The late Roy Buskirk was voted back onto the Allen County Council by voters this week. Now the work begins to find a replacement.

Buskirk died just four days before Election Day, so it was too late to have his name removed from the ballot. As a result, the Allen County Republican Party has scheduled a Caucus for November 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Party Headquarters on West Main Street in Fort Wayne to select a replacement.

That person is expected to serve Buskirk’s four-year term that starts in January, but Democratic Party Chairman Jack Morris claims that the votes for Buskirk are null and void, saying state law backs him up.

It’s not known yet if a legal challenge will happen.
