FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Allen County Council approved a $2.85 million in tax breaks for a distribution center on Thursday.

NorthPoint Development plans to create a $32 million, 791,000-square-foot center at Lafayette Center Road and Fogwell Parkway. Up to 200 people are expected to be hired at the center with an average salary of $30,000, WOWO reported on Monday.

Some of the county council members suggested that the salaries should be higher, according to the New-Sentinel.

Brent Miles, NorthPoint’s co-owner, said he couldn’t comment on salary issues, but that the average salary and employment level listed on the tax abatement application were conservative.

The details of the project of the identity of the tenant haven’t been released yet, but the NorthPoint president says the distribution center would make the automotive industry more efficient and reliable.

Construction for the center could begin in July and is expected to be completed by May 2017.
