Adams County crash leaves 10-year-old dead and three injured

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO) – Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m. a van and a semi were involved in a crash resulting in the death of a 10-year-old girl and injuring three others, according to the Journal Gazette.

According to an officer from the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, Elizabeth A. Poling was driving eastbound on State Road 124 and attempted to turn north into a private driveway when she collided with Jerry W. Augler who was driving a semi going westbound.  The two vehicles crashed and ended up in a ditch on the north side of the road.

The Adam County Sheriff’s Department say that foggy conditions were a factor in the crash.

A 10-year-old girl died in the crash and the other three people in the van suffered multiple injuries and were taken to Adams Memorial Hospital.  Officers say the passengers that were sitting in the back seat of the van were not wearing seat belts.  According to police, if the three passengers would have worn seat belts, their injuries wouldn’t have been so severe.

The crash remains under investigation by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police.

Maybe there should have been a school delay.
