2018 D.A.R.E. Fishing Derby to benefit Van Wert County’s D.A.R.E. program

VAN WERT COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO) – Van Wert County Sheriff Thomas Riggenbach released the dates for the 2018 D.A.R.E. Fishing Derby.

The 13th bi-annual event will take place Saturday, Sept. 8 and Sunday, Sept. 9 from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily at the Middle Point Quarry.

The cost to participate in the fishing derby is as follows:

  • Adults
    • $50 for two days
    • $30 for one day
  • Youth (under 18)
    • $25 for two days
    • $15 for one day

Those younger than 18 must have a released signed by a parent/guardian, and the parent/guardian must fish with the youth during the event.

Sheriff Riggenbach stated that boats are required to participate, and boats can only use a trolling motor.

Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to the top three boats, and door prizes will be available for all youth participants.

All proceeds from the 2018 D.A.R.E. Fishing Derby benefit the Van Wert County D.A.R.E. Program.
