2 people hospitalized after plane crash in Wells County

WELLS COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): Two people were hospitalized after a plane crash in Wells County on Tuesday night.

At about 9 p.m., emergency personnel were called to the area of C.R. 200 West and C.R. 200 South on reports of a plane crash, according to the Wells County Sheriff’s Office. 

When officers arrived, they had trouble finding the plane because it crashed into a corn field. The Bluffton Fire Department aerial and Lutheran Air helicopter had to be used to locate the plane.

The passenger of the plane was ejected and was found lying under the right wing of the plane. She was airlifted Lutheran Hospital. The driver was also hospitalized.

The driver said the crash happened when he tried to land and the engine stopped working.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash.
