Women protest abortion law with “Periods for Pence” Facebook page

INDIANAPOLIS (WOWO): A group of women opposing Governor Mike Pence’s new abortion bill has taken their unusual protest to social media, making a Facebook page that has gained over 20 thousand members since it started last week.

The group “Periods for Pence” is urging women to contact Pence to “report their periods,” that according to The Indianapolis Star. Group members say providing status updates on their menstrual cycles is a tongue-in-cheek way of poking fun at government oversight of women’s bodies.

The bill the group opposes requires the cremation of aborted fetuses, and bans abortions sought due to birth defects and gender.
