INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WOWO): Winter weather can be harsh on everything and everyone, including tires.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to check tire treads at least once a month, because tires can be deadly on wet and icy roads and lead to hydroplaning.

INDOT adds that wet-weather braking and snow traction also decrease as tires wear.
