Take a virtual ride of Cedar Point’s new record-breaking roller coaster

SANDUSKY, Ohio (WOWO): Roller coaster lovers have something to be thrilled about in summer 2016. Cedar Point is introducing a new coaster that will hold more world records than the Top Thrill Dragster.

The new coaster, Valravan, will be introduced when the park opens in 2016 and will break 10 world records, according to Cedar Point’s website.

Valravan is a dive coaster, or a steel roller coaster with a straight vertical drop, according to coaster designer Bollinger & Mabillard.
It gets its name from a supernatural bird from Danish folklore.

The 10 world records the coaster will break are:

  1. Tallest dive coaster (223 feet), currently held by Griffon (205 feet) at Busch Gardens in Williamburg, Va.
  2. Fastest dive coaster (75 mph), currently held by Griffon (71 mph).
  3. Longest dive coaster (3,415 feet), currently held by Seikra (3,188 feet) at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, Fla.
  4. Most inversions on a dive coaster (three), currently held by both Oblivion: The Black Hole in Italy and Griffon (two).
  5. Longest drop on a dive coaster (214 feet), Griffon (205 feet).
  6. Highest inversion on a dive coaster (165 feet), current record holder unknown
  7. Most roller coasters taller than 200 feet at one amusement park (five), current record holder unknown
  8. Most rides at one amusement park (72), current record holder unknown
  9. Most steel roller coaster track at one amusement park (52,125 feet/ 9.9 miles), current record holder unknown
  10. Most roller coaster track at one amusement park (60,110 feet/ 11.4 miles), current record holder unknown
