Standoff ends peacefully on Fort Wayne’s southeast side

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One man is in custody after a standoff with police that lasted several hours on Fort Wayne’s southeast side Sunday.

Just before noon, Fort Wayne Police responded to a home on Warsaw Street, east of Lafayette, in reference to a domestic disturbance involving an armed man. As officers arrived to the scene, they spoke with people who exited the home who confirmed that an individual was inside the residence armed with a weapon.

Police attempted to make contact with the man to have him exit the house, but were unsuccessful for several hours. Officers finally made entry into the home, and took the man into custody without incident. He was then transported from the scene to speak with investigators. This incident remains under investigation.
