FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department are investigating a shooting near Weisser Park that left one man dead.

Police tell WOWO News officers were called to the area of 700 Eckart Street just before 7:00 p.m. Wednesday on a report of gunshots.

As officers were checking the area, they found a man down in the center of Weisser Park, 800 Eckart Street.

Paramedics were called in and it was determined that he was suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The male was then reported to be in critical condition, but was later pronounced deceased by medics.

The age of the man is unknown at this time. Meanwhile, there is no information as to what led up to the shooting. Detectives are searching the area trying to find any witnesses, and investigators are processing the scene for evidence.
