FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): One man is dead after an early morning shooting on Fort Wayne’s south side.

Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, officers on routine patrol heard several gunshots just east of the 3000 block of Holton Avenue.

Several officers responded to the area and located a vehicle parked in the north/south alley between Anthony Boulevard and Lillie Street. The vehicle was in the 2900 block of the alley and its rear window was shattered.

An unresponsive man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound was in the driver’s seat. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with homeowners. Police say there is no suspect information or description to provide at this time.
