One dead in SW Fort Wayne crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A vehicle turning left drove into the path of another car, causing a fatal crash in Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne Police say the car was attempting to turn onto Glendale Drive from Jefferson Boulevard, near Fort Wayne Country Club, at around 5 p.m. Wednesday, but instead went into the path of a car driven by a 17-year-old boy.

Both cars took heavy damage, and the passengers of the turning car needed to be removed by fire personnel. An elderly woman in the front seat was unresponsive and taken to a local hospital, where she later died.

The 17-year-old refused treatment. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
