Officers, victim involved in weekend shooting identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The officers involved in a pair of recent fatal police action shootings have been identified.

The City of Fort Wayne says Officers Anthony Shefferly and Cameron Norris are on paid administrative leave while an investigation into the shooting at 5328 Stony Run Lane continues. They responded to a hostage situation early Friday that ended with the death of 36-year-old Joseph S. Schroeder. He had allegedly threatened to harm a small child.

Also, officer Christopher Hawthorne has been identified as the one who responded to a call Saturday night at the Hallmark Inn on East Washington due to a man in the parking lot, armed with a knife, threatening to cut someone. Police say 62-year-old Charles Antrup appeared to be drunk and lunged at Hawthorne, causing him to open fire.

Anthrup was pronounced dead at the scene.
