FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): It was a busy first month on the job for Fort Wayne City Clerk Lana Keesling.

Keesling was elected by an overwhelming majority in November after videos of alleged electioneering efforts by former Clerk Sandy Kennedy were released online, as Keesling promised to clean up the Clerk’s office. If the first month on the job has shown anything, she’s got a lot of work ahead of her.

She tells the News-Sentinel among the things she’s found that need correction were more than $11,000 worth of stamps found in a drawer, despite Kennedy’s proposed budget asking for $6,000 more in postage, and 200 missing “free parking” passes for city meters.

Keesling says she’ll be using the stamps, negating the $6,000 request, though they’re in various denominations. The missing passes have been voided, and people caught using them will receive warnings.

Her office is also cracking down on outstanding parking tickets, as 21Alive reports a 40% increase in collections compared to Kennedy’s last year in office.
