ELKHART, Ind. (WOWO): Two Fort Wayne children were found dead Monday night.

Around 5:25 p.m. Monday, an Elkhart Police Department officer was stopped by 29-year-old Amber Pasztor. She told the officer that two dead children were inside the vehicle, according to the Elkhart Police Department.

When the officer examined the vehicle, he saw the two deceased kinds in the backseat of the vehicle. The vehicle matched the description of the information provided in an Amber Alert that was issued earlier Monday.

The bodies of the two children are believed to be 7-year-old Lilliana Hernandez and 6-year-old Rene Pasztor. Formal identification of the children will be done by the coroner’s office.

Police believe Pasztor, the children’s biological mother, took the children from a home near Churubusco just after 6 a.m. Monday. An Amber Alert was issued Monday afternoon.

Pasztor of Fort Wayne is in custody. She was arrested on two preliminary charges of murder.

An autopsy is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday.
