FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A man who was shot to death was found on Mother’s Day morning.

According to a release from the Fort Wayne Police Department, officers were called to a home on Maywood Avenue just south of Wayne Trace a little before 10 a.m. Sunday after getting a 911 call from a woman who was crying hysterically. She provided the address and hung up.

When police arrived they found a man dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

Initial information available to police indicates a family member had been concerned because she was unable to make contact with the victim. She went to his home this morning to check on him when she found his body.

Detectives are currently canvassing the neighborhood and speaking with neighbors.

Detectives will interview family members in an attempt to determine a timeline for the last time someone had contact with the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867.
