Boy in critical condition after southeast side shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A 15-year-old boy is in critical condition after a shooting yesterday afternoon on the southeast side of Fort Wayne.

The Fort Wayne Police Department says officers were called at about 4:20pm after the boy was found lying in an alley just west of Avondale and north of Baxter Street, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital.

The victim’s identity is currently unknown.

A K9 unit was unable to find the shooter, losing track in the 4000 block of Warsaw Street, but police did find what they called “physical evidence” near where they found the victim.

There were people in the area when the shooting occurred, and officers are currently interviewing potential witnesses.
