Six hospitalized in knife attack, fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Fort Wayne Police had their hands full with an angry boyfriend early Saturday morning.

The Fort Wayne Police Department tells WOWO News they were called to a home on St. Mary’s Avenue, a couple of blocks northeast of Hamilton Park, at about 1:45 a.m. after a man allegedly forced his way into his girlfriend’s home with a knife and stabbed two people.

When police got there he barricaded himself in a bedroom, said he had a hostage, and set the bedroom on fire.

Officers forced their way in and arrested him. There was no hostage. The fire was put out.

The man, whose name has not yet been released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition for a self-inflicted knife wound. His victims are in stable condition. Three officers had to be hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
