FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Things in Fort Wayne are heating up.

A heat wave is making its way to Northeast Indiana and Fort Wayne will likely reach the highest temperatures so far in 2016.

Saturday’s high is forecasted to be 92 degrees, but with humidity, the heat index will be around 95 degrees, according to Michael Lewis, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

While there is only a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, if they do pop-up, there could be an isolated strong to severe thunderstorm with strong winds and hail, Lewis said.

Things will cool down a little bit Sunday, which is expected to reach a high of 82 degrees.
