Fort Wayne Muslim community offering reward for information on Lewis Street killings

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne Muslim community is offering a reward for information about the “execution-style” killings of three people on East Lewis Street last week.

The Islamic Center of Fort Wayne is holding a press conference Friday to give more details about the reward. It will be at 1:30 p.m. at the Islamic Center of Fort Wayne, 1109 Chute St.

“According to Islamic teaching, life is sacred,” the Islamic Center of Fort Wayne said in a press release. “If you take the life of one innocent person, it is as though you have taken the life of all mankind.”

Mohamedtaha Omar, Adam Kamel Mekki and Muhannad Adam Tairab were found shot to death on Feb. 24. Two of the victims were Muslim, but police say there is no reason to believe it was a hate crime.
