Fort Wayne man killed in police shootout identified

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): The Fort Wayne man who was killed in a shootout with police Sunday night has been identified.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office says 62-year-old Abraham Martinez’s death is a “homicide, police action shooting”.

Martinez is the man who police say opened fire on them after allegedly shooting another man inside the Auto Zone on East Rudisill at about 9:40pm Sunday. They returned fire, killing him.

His alleged victim was last reported in serious condition at a Fort Wayne hospital. The victim’s identity has not been released, nor has any motive for the shooting.

Martinez’s death is listed as the fifth homicide, police action shooting in Allen County this year.
