Fort Wayne man is 46th homicide victim this year

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne man was shot to death early Wednesday morning. He is the 46th homicide victim in Allen County this year — an all-time high.

The Allen County Coroner’s Office said Sha Rif, 22, died from gunshot wounds. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

At about 1:45 a.m., police were called the the Marathon gas station at 4226 South Lafayette Street on reports of a man found lying in the gas station’s parking lot.

Officers found Rif unresponsive. He was hospitalized in critical condition, but was shortly pronounced dead.

It’s unknown if the shooting took place in the gas station parking lot or if the victim drove to the gas station after being shot.

Rif is the 46th homicide victim in Allen County this year, which breaks a record of 45 homicides in 2013.
