MERCER COUNTY, Ohio (WOWO): The Mercer County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Office arrested a 25-year-old man after police say he beat a woman.

Nathan Frederick of Fort Recovery, Ohio, was arrested on preliminary charges of assault around 10 p.m. Monday, according to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say Frederick strangled a 19-year-old woman. The victim said he pulled her hair and choked her.

She also said he grabbed a handgun and held it to his head. Then he threatened to shoot himself and the victim. At some point, he fired the gun inside the house, the victim said.

Police served a search warrant for his home in the 200 block of Lowry Road. They found a handgun, one spent round, five live round, suspected marijuana pipes, an electric scale, suspected marijuana residue and a suspected marijuana grinder, police said.

He’s being held in the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility.
