FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Two area children allegedly killed by their mother will be honored by their classmates and teachers on Friday night.

Northwest Allen County Schools Superintendent Chris Himsel tells WOWO News there will be a Celebration of Life at Arcola Elementary School, where Liliana Hernandez and Rene Pasztor attended classes.

“We’ve been working with the grandparents, and they’re organizing a celebration of life at 7:30 p.m. Friday,” Himsel said, adding that most of the NACS faculty and students have been shaken by this series of events.

“It’s impossible not to be impacted by this, especially since so many of us are parents ourselves,” Himsel said. “We’re focused on meeting the needs of our kids, making sure we meet the educational needs for them.”

Counselors have been on hand at the school all week to help students and staff struggling with the situation.

Balloons will be released at the service, which coincides with Liliana Hernandez’s birthday. She would have turned 8-years-old. Her brother was 6.

The kids’ mother, Amber Pasztor, is in the Elkhart County Jail facing murder charges. Police say she confessed to their killings.
