1 person dead in Fort Wayne house fire

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A person died in a house fire in Fort Wayne on Monday afternoon.

At about 2:30 p.m., the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a home in the 6900 block of Penrose Drive on reports of a fire, according to the Fort Wayne Fire Department.

The majority of the fire was located in the home’s crawlspace, resulting in a collapse of the floor. After the fire was extinguished about 50 minutes later, crews entered the home and found a body in the crawlspace.

Investigators are currently determining the cause of the fire.
