Youth Ministry Leader Admits to Child Exploitation

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP): A former youth ministry leader in northeastern Indiana has pleaded guilty to charges that he encouraged adolescent boys to send him sexually explicit photos.

Federal prosecutors charged 36-year-old Nathan Hasty of Huntington used email accounts to pose as a teen girl and send messages to the boys, mostly between 12 and 14 years old. Authorities say he met the boys through his work with Fort Wayne Area Youth for Christ, where he was assigned to programs at two Huntington County middle schools.

Hasty pleaded guilty to a sexual exploitation of children charge during a court hearing Wednesday. His plea agreement calls a sentence of at least 15 years in prison.

The Journal Gazette reports Hasty was suspended and later fired from Youth for Christ in 2012.
