WOWO Exclusive: Governor-elect Eric Holcomb talks transition, reveals 2017 agenda

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Governor-elect Eric Holcomb will be sworn in as Indiana’s next Governor Jan. 9, 2017.

WOWO News spoke with Holcomb to check in on how the transition is going.

“There is a lot of excitement. I’m encouraged by the hundreds and hundreds of people who have logged onto nextlevelondiana.com and expressed their interest in coming to work in public service for the state of Indiana. So that is going well, and we’ve got that organized. We’re also bringing together new team members onto the transition board who be assessing all of our executive branch agencies.”

Holcomb has directed the 16-member transition board to go through those executive branch agencies to discover what is working and what is not working for the state of Indiana.

Meanwhile, when it comes to the agenda for 2017, Holcomb says he and his administration will be laser focused of the following five key areas:

  • Providing good state government at a great taxpayer rate
  • Passing an honestly balanced budget
  • Creating education opportunities
  • Maintaining and creating long-term, data driven, infrastructure programs
  • Killing the drug epidemic
