MARION, Ind. (WOWO): The worker killed in a chemical explosion at the General Motors metal-stamping plant in Marion has been identified. 48-year-old James Gibson, a contractor, died in the Tuesday afternoon blast. The explosion also injured five other people.
The blowup involved a chlorine dioxide tank and the chemical continued spilling out after the explosion. A hazardous materials crew contained the spill and firefighters had to rinse off the skin of everyone who came into contact with the chemical.
