FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Police say a woman was shot by an airsoft or BB gun when a man tired to rob a Marathon gas station in Fort Wayne.

An employee at the Marathon at 1202 E. State Blvd. called police and said someone tried to rob the gas station then shot her at about 12:45 a.m. Monday, according to the Fort Wayne Police Department.

When police arrived, witnesses said a man wearing a white mask came into the gas station and yelled, “Give me the money!” while pointing a black handgun at a female employee.

As the man continued to yell, the employee said she was nervously trying to open the cash drawer but was unsuccessful. The suspect then said, “you’re taking too long,” and when she unsuccessfully tried to open the drawer again he shot her, according to police reports.

She was struck in the chest and turned around. Then he shot her again in the shoulder. The suspect then left the store without any money or merchandise.

The woman had minor bleeding and police believe the suspect was using a BB or airsoft gun.

Police are viewing security footage to identify him.
