Woman Runs from Police after Stealing from Local Meijer

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): A Fort Wayne woman ran from police after she was accused of stealing from the Meijer store on Lima Road.

On January 9th, 22-year-old Whitney Jimison put an assortment of children's items in her grocery cart and instead of  proceeding to the checkout, she went through the exit doors.

According to the Journal Gazette, Meijer staff members brought Jimison into the store's loss-prevention office with her 4-year-old daughter. After police were called, she ran from the store and left her daughter with store employees.

Jimison then ran toward the Lowe's store across Ludwig Road. The Journal Gazette reports police arrested her in the store and during questioning, Jimison gave officers a fake name. She also told police the child she left behind was her niece, instead of her daughter.

Jimison later admitted the 4-year-old was indeed her daughter. She's being held without bond.
