Woman Running From Accident Asks Homeowner To Hide Her

ALBION, Ind. (WOWO):  A woman trying to run from police broke into a home and pleaded with the owner for a hiding place.

Early Sunday morning at 12:57 a.m. police arrived to State Road 9 near River Road outside the town of Albion.  Jamie Derkatsch of Fort Wayne is said to have been driving a Izuzu southbound on State Road 9 when she went off the west side of the road and struck a guardrail.  The impact caused her car to roll over, but when police got there Derkatsch was not in the car.

Derkatsch fled the accident. While trying to evade police who were not on the scene, she broke into a home on south Orange Street and woke the homeowner who was asleep in the living room, pleading to help her evade arrest.  The homeowner refused and made her leave immediately.  A short time later she was found hiding by police near the garbage outside of the residence.

Criminal charges for Derkatsch being sent for review are said to be related to Residential Entry, Driving While Suspended, Operating While Intoxicated and Leaving the Scene Of An Accident.
