Woman Charged in Anderson Woman’s Death Won’t Talk to Police

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) _ Indiana police say a Gary woman charged with murder in the death of an Anderson woman has refused to answer questions from detectives.

Anderson Police Sgt. Chad Boynton says detectives from the Anderson and Gary police departments tried to interview 36-year-old Geraldine Jones on Tuesday in Texas _ where she was being held in a secure facility _ but she refused to speak with them.

Jones was charged Monday in Madison County with murder, kidnapping and criminal confinement in the death of 23-year-old Samantha Fleming.

Police say Fleming's body was found Friday in a house where Jones lived. Fleming's infant daughter was found in the care of Jones' sister, who told police the child belonged to Jones. Police say the child has since been returned to Fleming's relatives in Indianapolis.
