Wife Asks for Lower Bond for Husband Accused in Baby Death

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) _ The wife of an Indiana man charged in the death of their five-month-old son has requested his release to help her through the birth of another child.

Cory Wallace faces five felony charges in the February death of his infant son, Jenson. Authorities allege he dropped the child, didn't seek medical attention and set fire to the child's room to hide the cause of death.

The (Muncie) Star Press reports attorney Ron Smith and Wallace's wife asked a judge Monday to reduce Wallace's bond to $50,000. Sheryl Wallace says she's is due next month and wants her husband released so he can offer “help and support.” She says she doesn't think he's dangerous.

He's being held in jail under a $180,000 bond. The trial scheduled for Jan. 25.
