What’s your July 4th cookout going to cost?

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WOWO): A favorite activity for the 4th of July weekend is always a cookout with family and friends. So what’s that going to set you back at the grocery store this year?

The Farm Bureau just released their annual “Summer Cookout Survey” and the survey says, America’s favorite foods for the fourth, will cost you slightly less this year.

The Farm Bureau’s Market Intelligence Director, John Newton, tells WOWO News, their survey reveals the average cost of a summer cookout for 10 people is $55.70, or $5.57 per person.

“The cost of the 14 food items used for a summer BBQ, including ribs, hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, and American cheese was $55.70, down slightly from last year’s total.”

He says the decline in prices follows on-farm production, with an abundance of dairy supplies and an increase in pork production.
