WFWA PBS39 Releases Statement on Former Employee Indictment

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): Mark Ryan, Community Relations Manager at PBS39, sent out the following statement in regards to the recent federal indictment against former PBS39 finance manager, 58-year-old Gail Waymore. She is accused of embezzling more than $130,000 from the local nonprofit public television station and  was charged in an Indictment with 20 counts of wire fraud.

On September 10, 2014, a Federal Grand Jury indicted Mrs. Gail R. Waymire, a former employee of WFWA PBS39 Fort Wayne (“PBS39”). Mrs. Waymire was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on September 24, 2014.

Law Enforcement Officials have asked PBS39 not to comment on this matter while Mrs. Waymire’s case is pending in court. PBS39 has been, and continues to be, committed to cooperating with law enforcement in this matter and, therefore, has no comment regarding Mrs. Waymire’s case at this time.

PBS39 continues to thrive as a fully invested member of the community it serves and appreciates the community’s support for its ongoing mission. Our mission to educate, engage, inform and entertain will continue as normal. All avenues of restitution will be sought, and PBS39 remains financially stable.

The indictment remained sealed until Waymire's arrest in LaPorte County. According to court records, Waymire was released from custody after she posted $10,000 bond. As a condition of her release, Waymire must submit to a mental health evaluation and participate in any treatment deemed necessary and remain within the northern district of Indiana.
