Water Safety Tips For Summer Swimming

Drowning is the second-leading cause of injury related death in children between 1 and 14 years old. That's why parents are urged to take extra safety precautions.

Experts say never leave your child alone in the water, not even for a few seconds. Keep eye contact with those nearby, and always make sure to swim with companions.

If you own a swimming pool, make sure to fence in all sides and use a self-latching gate. Also keep rescue aids like life preservers and poles no both sides of the pool. In open water, teach children not to dive into ares where the depth is unknown.
