Warsaw PD Considering Body Cameras

WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): The Warsaw Police Department is discussing placing body cameras on their officers.

Since January of last year, the department has had success with some body cameras, but not all uniformed officers are equipped yet.

Public Information Officer Kip Shuter says the body cameras could become integrated with their vehicle cameras. He also says there's both positives and negatives with using body cameras, such as the high cost of the advanced technology.

Shuter sayid he would like to equip all 25 uniformed officers with body cameras. One of the ways to pay for them would be funds from the Department of Homeland Security.
