Warsaw man arrested following altercation and running from police…

On Saturday, just after 11:00 p.m., an off-duty Warsaw Police officer observed a fight between Robert Garcia and a woman, in a pick-up truck on West Market Street in Warsaw.

The off-duty officer then noticed Garcia speeding off, leaving the woman behind. He then tried to run her over; she was able to hide behind a dumpster. Garcia then took off.

The off-duty officer called Kosciusko County Police and provided a description of the truck. Warsaw police were then able to quickly track it down, but Garcia lead police on a chase through downtown Warsaw.

The chase continued to Ferguson Road and County Road 250 South where the truck lost control and stopped in a ditch. Garcia then got out of the truck and took off running.

He was tasered and taken into custody. Garcia was intoxicated booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of felony resisting law enforcement, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness with a motor vehicle, and misdemeanor charges of driving while suspended and fleeing law enforcement.

The woman was injured from the altercation with Garcia. She was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for her injuries and she was also intoxicated.
