WARSAW, Ind. (WOWO): At first his car was stuck in the snow. Then, it became stuck in a lake.

It started at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday morning when police discovered a vehicle driving without headlights or taillights near Cleveland and Market Streets in Warsaw. A little while later, the vehicle was discovered at a Dairy Queen on East Winona Avenue.

The suspect, 29-year-old Benny Fitzpatrick of Warsaw, was stuck in the snow, but he was able to get his vehicle unstuck. In doing so, however, he hit a Winona Lake police cruiser, then a newspaper box, and then Warsaw Parks Department property.

Still driving with no headlights and with police pursuing him, Fitzpatrick eventually drove his car unto the boat ramp at Center Lake, then ditched the vehicle before it splashed into the water. This still did not stop him, though. He allegedly tried to run from police before he was tracked down.

Fitzpatrick is initially charged with resisting/fleeing law enforcement by use of a vehicle,  operating a vehicle while intoxicated, failure to stop after an accident, and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

He is currently being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on $7,500 bond.
