Wanted Man Barricaded Himself In Home For Several Hours

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO):  A man wanted in a domestic battery investigation barricaded himself inside a Fort Wayne home for several hours before police got him out.

911 dispatchers got a call around 4:40 p.m. on Saturday June 28th, but the caller hung up.  Police believed there was some type of disturbance coming from the address, and as officers arrived they spoke to an individual outside the home.  That person told police that 36 year old Jeremy C. Elder Sr. was inside and wanted on a previous domestic battery investigation.  However after several attempts at contact with Elder failed, they called in the Crisis Response Team.

Officers spoke to Elder on the phone for several hours, but he didn't leave the home.  It wasn't until 10:30 p.m. that he came out of the residence, but he still wasn't complying with police orders.  Police used less lethal ammunition to get his attention, and that was enough to get him into custody.  Elder was transported to the Allen County Jail and charged with felony domestic battery.
