NATIONWIDE (WOWO): Walmart will soon require all customers to wear face masks.

The world’s biggest retailer will require face coverings at all 9,000 of its stores in the United States starting on July 20th, according to a company press release. The company says the move comes as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases continues to rise in communities throughout the US.

“While we’re certainly not the first business to require face coverings, we know this is a simple step everyone can take for their safety and the safety of others in our facilities,” the release says. “According to the CDC, face coverings help decrease the spread of COVID-19, and because the virus can be spread by people who don’t have symptoms and don’t know they are infected, it’s critically important for everyone to wear a face-covering in public and social distance.”

All Walmart locations will also have their multiple entrances narrowed down to a single point. The move will also apply to the company’s Sam’s Club locations. The company says it realizes that some may be unable to wear a face covering, and adds they will work with those people to find solutions.

Yet another reason not to shop at Wal-Mart. I hope their business suffers greatly from this decision.

Im so glad I stopped shopping there already.. Because if Your guest need a mask to shop there.. You dont deserve the money they might have spent at your establishment.. So good luck with your discrimination ploy against freedom.

I agree because making the choice to mandate masks 6 months after the virus started it’s now important to do this…ok so I’ll shop else where

Single point entrance. That ought to help social distancing. I would love to sit in on these high level meetings. Mensa club material in there for sure

Finally. Hopefully the rest of the retailers grow spines, too. If anti-science. anti-maskers want to protest all the stores, I wish them good luck. 😉

Honestly I am surprised it took this long. One would think all of the stores would have implemented a mask requirement so the disease spread was lower and in-store spending could continue. Instead of leading the way, they shot themselves in the feet by trying to play both sides.

Educate yourself.

Right from the FDA website:

While a surgical mask may be effective in blocking splashes and large-particle droplets, a face mask, by design, does not filter or block very small particles in the air that may be transmitted by coughs, sneezes, or certain medical procedures. Surgical masks also do not provide complete protection from germs and other contaminants because of the loose fit between the surface of the mask and your face.

Exactly Melisa. I am surprised at how many people didn’t/don’t know this. They think the mask is the be all, end all in personal safety. Thanks for the link and attempting to educate people.

I always enjoy when people make the claim that others are “anti-science” or “science deniers”. Especially when Science and logic has not been used to-date when dealing with this virus. Fear and sheep-herding is all that has been going on. Do your own research.

The mask is not for personal protection!!!! It’s to be courteous to others. Jesus F. Christ! Anyway, all of you uneducated antimaskers can quit bitching about Walmart- they are not enforcing this.
