It is the one month anniversary of the shooting in Florida. Both students, teachers, and staff across the US will walk out of their classrooms for 17 minutes to honor the 17 lives lost in the shooting and to call for action against all these forms of gun violence.

The event has been organized by EMPOWER, the youth branch of the Woman’s March, and encourages supporters to use the hashtag #enough and to wear orange to show solidarity. Students and staff will be the only ones to participate in the walkout to ensure safety, but if others would like to be a part of the event, they can wear orange and\or walkout of their workplaces for 17 minutes.

Should use #EnoughAstroturfing as the hashtag instead. Nice to see a political action committee working so hard to convince kids to walk out of school to protest Constitutional rights.

Yup, they are just getting them used to the idea of giving up their Constitutional rights…it’s sad.

I will be happy to see students engaging in political protest and showing they care about their safety. Maybe this will shame our reps in Congress to finally do something about the insane level of gun violence in this country although I am extremely skeptical since the NRA has bought the majority of them.

It’s ok with me if these skulls full of mush want to demonstrate that Second Amendment infringement is the way to go, because I plan to treat their First Amendment rights on the subject with the same regard.
