Volunteers to Hang Posters of Missing IU Student

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) _ Volunteers will gather in Bloomington this weekend to put up posters seeking tips about the disappearance of an Indiana University student nearly two years ago.

Lauren Spierer vanished June 3, 2011, after a night of partying with friends. The 20-year-old apparel merchandising major from Greenburgh, N.Y., would have graduated from IU next month.

The Indianapolis Star reports that about 60 people have registered for P.U.M.P. 4 Lauren Spierer on Sunday. The event will begin at the Monroe County Courthouse. Organizer Shelly Leonard says attendees will spend the afternoon hanging posters of Spierer around campus.

Hundreds of volunteers joined searches around Bloomington and parts of the surrounding wooded countryside searching unsuccessfully for Spierer after her disappearance. Her parents have said they assume their daughter is dead.
