UPDATED: Suspect Shot In Attempted Armed Robbery Identified

1:12 PM Update: The hospitalized suspect has been identified as 43 year old Anthony Gant of Fort Wayne. The Fort Wayne Police Department says he's in critical, but stable condition.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO): There's been another incident at a Fort Wayne Dollar General Store.

This time a shooting. Sunday night a suspect in an apparent hold-up was shot as he attempted to get away from the crime scene at the Dollar General near East State and Hobson.

It happened around 8:15. According to our partners in News at 21 Alive the man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Another suspect was corralled and taken into police custody.

An employee and a customer were bound with zip-ties. Three officers involved in the confrontation have been placed on paid, administrative leave.

Police say they'll handle the case with complete transparency.

This incident comes after Dollar General and Family Dollar Stores have been targeted in a string of of robberies and attempted robberies.
