On Sunday, 10/04/2015, at approximately 8:55 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 100 block of East Dewald Street reference gunshots being fired in the area.  Three minutes later a citizen called police to report they located a male subject in the area bleeding.  Officers arrived on scene and located the victim in the 100 block of East Dewald Street.  The adult/male victim was conscious and alert when officers located him.  It appeared the victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s).

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in serious condition.  Upon arriving at the hospital, the victim was downgraded to critical condition by a physician.

Preliminary information indicates the suspect(s) and the victim were involved in a disturbance inside an apartment in the 100 block of East Dewald Street prior to the shooting.  The disturbance escalated and gunshots were fired.  The victim was able to flee the apartment and was located a few houses away from where the shooting occurred.  The suspect(s) fled the scene and a police K-9 track was unsuccessful in locating them.

Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene and collecting evidence.  Detectives are currently interviewing potential witnesses in an attempt to gather additional details regarding this investigation. Detectives hope to have more information once they are able to interview the victim.  No arrests have been made and there are no suspects at this time.  This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-7867.
